Job Description

Choice Teachers is seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher for a full-time position at a Good OFSTED rated secondary school in Bolton, starting in September. Their mission statement is “through the dedication of our highly professional and motivated staff that ensures each child flourishes in a safe and happy environment.” This role is ideal for an enthusiastic educator ready to inspire and engage students in the fascinating world of history. Potential to go permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive history lessons that align with the Key stage 3 & 4 national curriculum and educational standards.
  • Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that fosters critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and support to help students achieve their academic goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
  • Encourage and support student participation in extracurricular history activities, such as clubs, competitions, and field trips.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student learning and school initiatives.
  • Stay current with developments in history education and integrate new technologies and methodologies into teaching practices.

We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field (required).
  • Teaching certification – PGCE with QTS or QTLS (required).
  • Proven experience teaching history at the secondary school level within UK schools.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to contribute to the school community.
